Diamond Whites Aligners

Would you like straighter teeth and a smile you can be proud of? Find out more about UK teeth straightening provider Diamond Whites, with our comprehensive review.

Written by Lewis Grove

Focusing on affordable teeth straightening, with the option to spread payments with Klarna, Diamond Whites (DW Aligners) offers clear aligners along with teeth whitening kits. There are also other accessories like Diamond Whites branded toothpastes and toothbrushes. In theory, you can get everything you need for a smile that you can be proud of.

You can start on your journey to straighter teeth with home impressions or a visit to a clinic. Could Diamond Whites be your favourite clear aligner provider?

First Glance

It’s clear that Diamond Whites is an aligner provider that’s focusing on offering low prices. As well as offering treatment that’s priced far lower than you’ll find it from some other providers, Diamond Whites can also offer several different payment options.

Pros:

  • Several payment options
  • Start at home, or visit a UK clinic
  • Weekly monitoring, to help you stay on track

Cons:

  • Only one permanent clinic – all others are pop-up venues
  • Retainers are higher quality, but more expensive than from other providers

Who is behind Diamond Whites?

The Diamond Whites brand was created by Dr. Richard Marques. This cosmetic dentist has worked on the teeth of some of the world’s rich and famous. Dr. Marques continues to take personal responsibility for every teeth straightening case, though rather than receiving dental treatment straight from him you’ll progress through your treatment through a smartphone app. Everything’s managed from home, with no reason to visit a clinic.

If you did want to visit Dr. Marques, he has a Harley Street clinic. The Dr Richards Clinics have celebrity endorsements from Tom Daley, Russell Tovey, Rita Ora, Joey Essex and Jamie Redknapp, to name but a few. Interestingly, in Dr. Marques’ own clinic, Invisalign treatments are offered.

Who can use Diamond Whites aligners?

Designed to make adjustments to teeth with mild to moderate malocclusion issues, Diamond Whites aligners can help if your smile has some gaps or some overlapping teeth. If your teeth are overcrowded or look crooked, aligners may be able to help. Clear aligners aren’t suitable for more severe malocclusion, so if your gaps are particularly large then you might need a different type of treatment.

You must be at least 18 years old to become a Diamond Whites customer.

Before starting your treatment, you must ensure that you are in good dental health. If you need fillings or have any cavities, get these dealt with in advance. If your wisdom teeth need to be removed, the extractions should be carried out first. By the time you apply for Diamond Whites clear aligners, your gums and teeth should be healthy with no other changes planned.

How are the clear aligners made?

The first step to getting clear aligners is to pay a visit to the Diamond Whites clinic, or to make your impressions at home. Once your dental impressions have been made, they’re used as the mould for the production of your clear aligners. If you’re visiting a clinic, instead of impressions your 3D scan will be used.

Diamond Whites aligners are manufactured in the UK. These safe aligners are made of BPA-free clear plastic that’s almost invisible when worn. You’ll work your way through several sets of clear aligners, each very slightly different from the last, so your teeth will be gradually moved until they reach their end positions.

What treatment options are available?

All customers need to wear their aligners for 22 hours every day. You should only remove your aligners for mealtimes.

Your treatment plan will be customised and tailored to your unique dental profile. Your aligners are unique, made to fit your teeth, and your overall treatment time (and results) will depend on your starting point. You don’t have control over your plan, or any decisions to make. If you agree to go ahead with treatment, you must stick to your treatment plan carefully.

How long does Diamond Whites treatment take?

The average treatment time for Diamond Whites aligners is around 6 months in total. Your treatment will take longer if your teeth need more adjustment, or could be slightly shorter if they were already quite straight.

Are there any other steps to take?

With Diamond Whites treatment, you’re monitored closely from the very start. Whilst other providers might ask for ‘regular’ checkups, they’re unlikely to be as frequent as with Diamond Whites. You’ll be asked to check-in online every week. You’ll even receive a Remote Scan Box that links to the app on your smartphone, so you won’t just send standard photos of your teeth but a full dental scan every time.

Some people will find that Diamond White’s approach is a very reassuring one. It can help to know that your progress is tracked and any problems will be noticed very quickly. Others might find this approach too invasive, or prefer a slightly less regular check-in schedule.

How much does Diamond Whites treatment cost?

If you’re happy to commit straight away, Diamond Whites treatment will include not just your aligners but your Scan Box, a free 3D scan or home impression kit, and a teeth whitening treatment.

3D Scan

You can visit a clinic for a 3D scan at the start of your treatment. This can be used to make the moulds for your clear aligners. If you’re paying for this without purchasing the full plan, your scan will cost £99.

Impression Kit

If you pay up-front and commit to treatment, your home impression kit will be included in the overall cost. Otherwise, if you want to try impressions before you commit to your treatment, you’ll have the option of paying £99 just for the home impression kit.

Diamond Whites Impression Kit includes Teeth Whitening Gel

Your home impression kit includes everything you need to make two different sets of moulds. This gives you a backup plan, if your first attempt fails. If you need another kit after making two mistakes, there’s an extra £25 charge.

Treatment

Paid for up front, treatment costs £1,300 in total. Your scan or home impression kit will be included, so you don’t need to pay for these separately. You’ll also receive the Scan Box you need to check in every week, and one teeth whitening kit to use whenever you want.

Retainers

At the end of your treatment, wearing retainers will stop your teeth from moving back. They should be worn full-time, like a final set of aligners, for at least a week. After this, you can move on to just wearing your retainers overnight.

Retainers costs £200 at the end of your treatment. These aren’t included in the cost of your treatment plan. Other providers can offer these cheaper, as they’re usually around £100 per set. This makes a set of retainers from Diamond Whites twice as expensive as many competitors.

Diamond Whites doesn’t specify how often you’ll need to replace your retainers after treatment, but the retainers are made from Zendura, a stronger material than that used by other providers. They should last much longer than the retainers you'd get elsewhere, but the cost difference means it will likely balance out.

Are payment options available?

You can choose to pay in instalments.

Diamond Whites is partnered with Klarna, so the price of your instalments will depend on how long you want to keep paying for. It could also depend on your credit score, which may affect your finance interest rate.

If you spread the cost over 48 months without an initial deposit, you could pay as little as £38 per month.

Is a warranty or guarantee available?

Diamond Whites does offer a guarantee. It’s believed that if you’re found to be a suitable candidate, your treatment will be a success if you stick to the plan. If you’re unhappy with the results of your treatment and believe that you’re not at fault, you should be able to discuss further treatment at the end, and get an extra set of refinement aligners free of charge.

How old do you have to be?

You must be at least 18 years old to use Diamond Whites clear aligners.

If you are younger than 18 years old, there are other aligner treatment options and providers you can consider.

Where is Diamond Whites treatment available?

You can order and use a home impression kit from anywhere in the UK. If you want to visit a Diamond Whites clinic, there’s a permanent location in London.

Further pop-up clinics can be found throughout the UK. Though availability varies, you’re likely to find appointments at clinics in Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Norwich, Sheffield, Nottingham, Liverpool, Blackpool, Preston, Bristol and Chelmsford.

Diamond Whites: The Verdict

Availability

As you can start your treatment at home, and progress through your treatment remotely, clear aligners from Diamond Whites are available all over the UK. You’ll also have access to clinics in towns and cities all over England, though as pop-up clinics these can appear and disappear at any time. Don’t wait to get started whilst assuming that your nearest clinic will be there when you need it. Only the London clinic is a permanent Diamond Whites offering.

Price

Diamond Whites treatment is considerably cheaper than many other similar options. The low price also covers a selection of extras and free gifts, like a home teeth whitening kit and your Scan Box to monitor your progress. Your only additional cost is likely to be the price of retainers at the end, though these are on the costly side at £200 per set – but they are made from stronger materials than other retainers.

Instalment options are provided by Klarna, so you can spread the cost of your treatment. You can choose how long you want to spread payments for, up to 48 months. You could get your clear aligner treatment for as little as £38 monthly.

Ease of Use

Some people will consider Diamond Whites aligners to be very easy to use. As well as receiving back-up materials in your home impression kit, you’ll also get a Scan Box that automates the process of checking in during your treatment. There’s little room for anything to go wrong, even when you do everything remotely.

With Diamond Whites, you’re asked to check in weekly. Whilst this means you’re never left unchecked for long, it could be stressful for some customers. This means finding time every week to submit your images through the smartphone app. For some, this will be a little too frequent and add a bit too much to the to-do list.

If you’re concerned about making dental impressions, with Diamond Whites you have the option to visit a clinic. Professionals can offer a 3D scan so you don’t need to use a home impression kit. Once your treatment starts, just keep wearing your aligners and switch to new sets whenever you’re told to.

Options

With Diamond Whites, your options stop once you’ve chosen to buy a home impression kit or visit a clinic. Unlike with some other providers, you won’t have the option of nighttime-only aligners or any flexibility with treatment.

Once you’ve started your treatment, expect to follow your treatment plan to the letter. You’ll check in weekly and progress through your treatment until you reach the end. Your aligners should be worn every day for at least 22 hours.

Reassurance

When it comes to reassurance with Diamond Whites, it helps to know that the company’s founder is a popular cosmetic dentist with a long list of celebrity clients and a clinic on Harley Street. If you need to contact this provider, you can ask your questions in-app or through the form on the website. You can also call on 0203 475 1504.

There are plenty of 5-star reviews for Diamond Whites Aligners on sites like Trustpilot, which is typically a very good sign.

Diamond Whites does offer a guarantee – if your teeth haven't achieved the results you were expecting based on your scan, you'll get an extra set of refinement aligners for no extra charge.

Diamond Whites Aligners FAQs

Is Diamond Whites a reputable provider of clear aligners?

Diamond Whites is a reputable provider. The company is owned by founder Dr. Richard Marques, who runs a private dental clinic in Harley Street, London. Dr. Marques has been trusted by many celebrity clients, and with this provider it’s nice to have a trusted face behind the name. However, it’s worth being aware that this venture is very much separate. When you pay for Diamond Whites aligners you’re not becoming a patient at Dr Richard Clinics London, but choosing a home teeth straightening solution at an affordable price. Don’t expect celebrity treatment or checkups at the London clinic, as your payment covers remote check-ups using the Diamond Whites smartphone app.

What’s the Diamond Whites teeth whitening kit like?

Valued at almost £40, the teeth whitening kit contains a non-peroxide formula and an LED accelerator. It’s everything you need for one teeth whitening treatment. You can choose to use your teeth whitening kit at any time during treatment. Some people like to wait until the end, so they can give their smile a bit of extra sparkle before they show it off without aligners for the first time. Others like to whiten their teeth early on, as your teeth will be seen through your aligners and if they’re whiter it’s a confidence boost.

Can anyone use Diamond Whites aligners?

Some people won’t be suitable for Diamond Whites aligners. Existing crowns and implants might mean that you’re not able to use them. You won’t be a suitable candidate if you have gum disease or untreated cavities, or if your wisdom teeth need to be removed but haven’t been. You’re also unlikely to be a good candidate if your teeth require a lot of movement. Aligners are for mild to moderate issues, not for the most severe cases. When you first apply for Diamond Whites aligners, once you’ve made your impressions or had your 3D scan, the experts will look into your case. If you’re not going to get great results from your treatment, or if the treatment would do more harm than good, you’ll be told that you’re not going to be suitable.

What if I’m not a suitable candidate for Diamond Whites treatment?

If you’re found not to be suitable for Diamond Whites treatment, you can walk away without any financial loss. If you chose to pay for a home impression kit, you’ll get the cost of this refunded. If you paid up-front for the full treatment plan, the full amount will be given back.

Where can I have a 3D scan?

You can have your 3D scan at the Diamond Whites clinic in London. You can also choose to visit a pop-up clinic, in one of several cities across England. Though these clinics may not be permanent fixtures, you’re likely to find them in Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds, Norwich, Sheffield, Nottingham, Liverpool, Blackpool, Preston, Bristol and Chelmsford. To book an appointment at a Diamond Whites clinic, you’ll need to fill in an online form. You’ll have to pay up-front, with a 3D scan appointment at any clinic costing £99.

Are retainers provided after treatment?

Retainers aren’t included in the cost of your treatment. As you reach the end of your treatment, you will need to pay for retainers. These should be worn every night to make sure that your teeth don’t shift back. Diamond Whites retainers cost £200. Though this provider doesn’t specify how long each retainer set should last, most competitors recommend purchasing a new set every six months.

What are Klarna payments for clear aligners?

Klarna is a payment provider that’s becoming increasingly popular. Klarna’s separate from Diamond Whites. They’ll pay Diamond Whites on your behalf, as you enter into a financial agreement to pay for your treatment in instalments. With Klarna you’re entering a credit agreement, spreading the cost of your aligners. You’ll be charged interest, and your total cost might depend on your current credit score and financial history. Klarna operates using accounts. Once you’ve opened an account, you can add any future purchases in just a few clicks. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for a Klarna account, and you’ll need to remember to make your payments every month.

What is the Diamond Whites Scan Box?

The Diamond Whites Scan Box helps to simplify the process of taking photographs of your teeth. It’s a handheld device with a universal slot for a smartphone. Simply slide your phone into the Scan Box, then use the app to start the scanning process. The Scan Box will take several pictures of your teeth, so that you can submit the images for your weekly check-in. The Scan Box is included in the cost of your Diamond Whites treatment.

How long will I be waiting to start treatment?

Once you’ve decided to go ahead with treatment, and you’ve made the payments required, your first set of clear aligners should be with you in less than 14 days. According to Diamond Whites, most people get their aligners within 10 days of paying. The same applies if you’ve chosen to use a Klarna payment plan, as Klarna will manage your initial payment on your behalf.

Do I need to keep visiting my usual dentist during Diamond Whites treatment?

It’s important to continue to visit your usual dentist during clear aligner treatment. They’re best placed to keep an eye on your teeth and monitor your overall gum health. Whilst Diamond Whites will ask you to check in weekly, using their provided smartphone app, there are some issues that can only be picked up if you’re having a dental exam. Use a combination of checkups with your dentist and weekly check-ins with Diamond Whites, so you can be sure of a risk-free experience and a the most efficient treatment progress.
