Cookies
The cookies and browser storage Aligners.co uses, and why.
Aligners.co uses one cookie and browser storage for features you choose, and Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them. It does not use advertising or social media cookies.
What we store
| Name | Type | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| aligners_market | Cookie | Remembers whether you chose the United Kingdom or United States edition | 1 year |
| aligners-compare-uk, aligners-compare-us | Session storage | Remembers which providers you picked to compare | Until you close the tab |
| aligners-finder-uk, aligners-finder-us | Session storage | Remembers your provider finder answers so your results and edits survive a refresh | Until you close the tab or choose Start again |
| aligners-finder-sent-uk, aligners-finder-sent-us | Session storage | Remembers which providers you have asked to contact you, so the page doesn't offer it again. Not your details | Until you close the tab or choose Start again |
| aligners-details-uk, aligners-details-us | Session storage | Holds a random key for the details you gave in the finder's last step, so Email me and Call me can fill them in. Not the details themselves | Until you close the tab or choose Start again |
| aligners-share-uk, aligners-share-us | Session storage | Remembers the results link saved for your current answers, so copying it again doesn't create another | Until you close the tab or choose Start again |
| aligners-analytics-consent | Local storage | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, and when | Until you clear site data; we ask again after 12 months |
| _ga | Cookie (Google Analytics), only if you accept | Gives your browser a random identifier so Google Analytics can count repeat visits | 2 years from your last visit, or until you withdraw |
| _ga_ followed by an ID | Cookie (Google Analytics), only if you accept | Keeps track of your current visit for Google Analytics | 2 years from your last visit, or until you withdraw |
The comparison page also puts your selection in its address (URL), for example ?providers=smileie, impress. That is part of the URL, not a cookie or a session-storage entry, so clearing cookies and site data does not remove it. Like any URL, it can be kept in your browser history, in bookmarks and in any link you share, and it may appear in our hosting service's request logs when the page is loaded from that address. The privacy notice explains how request information is handled.
Your choices
On your first visit to aligners.co, a notice asks whether we may use Google Analytics cookies, with Accept analytics and Reject analytics side by side. Until you accept, our pages load nothing from Google and set no analytics cookies. Google Analytics is switched off on the provider finder, results pages, saved results links, Aligner Alerts links and the Contact page, and what it receives is described in the privacy notice.
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, or the button below. If you withdraw it, we delete the Google Analytics cookies and reload the page, and nothing more is sent to Google.
The other cookie and storage above are needed for features you use, so they don't need your consent. You can clear or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you do, the site may not remember your edition, comparison or analytics choices.
